Trichoderma as biocontrol agent of phytopathogens of agricultural and forest species
Keywords:
biological control, direct confrontation, volatile compoundsAbstract
The fungus Trichoderma has been extensively studied in the biological control of plant diseases.
This work aimed to evaluate the effect of Trichoderma spp. In the biocontrol of phytopathogens
of agricultural and forest species. Five Trichoderma isolates: T09, T12, T52, Tc and
Tce on two phytopathogens of agricultural species: Colletotrichum musae and Colletotrichum
gloeosporioides and on two phytopathogens of forest species: Pestalotiopsis sp. and Fusarium
sp., by two mechanisms of action: direct confrontation and production of volatile metabolites.
In both tests, the experimental design was completely randomized, in a factorial scheme, with
three replications. The reduction in the colonies of phytopatogens varied in relation to the
biocontrol agent. The isolates of Trichoderma spp. Evaluated by the crop pairing tests and the
production of volatile compounds showed potential, in vitro, for the control of C. musae, C.
gloeosposrioides and Fusarium sp.
