Due to the rusticity of the crop and acceptance in the local market, the cultivation of okra can
be considered an alternative of income generation for family farmers in Boa Vista-RR. How
it works, it is possible to replace the alternative substrates and not use the establishment of
vegetable seedlings. The objective was to select substrates from the composition of organic
residues in Boa Vista-RR that benefit the initial development of okra. As seeds for the enterprise
of okra collectors produced in the agroecological garden implemented in a public school.
There was a significant effect of the substrates in all evaluated variables. The substrates for
the production of organic residues were beneficial in the emergency and initial development of
okra, being alternatives for production in family agriculture. The beneficial effect of RO3 and
RO4 on okra was more significant than the other substrates.
