Agroforestry is an agroecological practice based on harmonic interactions between cultivation
processes and nature, using forms of consortium among several species, ecological succession
and ecological management of natural resources. Given the scarcity of practical activities
that adrdress Agroecology, this intervention aims to: generate potential disseminators of the
theme, instigate the public to support and develop sustainable practices, and implement a
demonstration area that produces quality food for consumption by students of the institution.
The experiment had the installation of an agroforestry system in the area of the Grupo Verde
of Alternative Agriculture (GVAA) with a consortium of banana trees, cod, grasses and vegetables.
Diversification of the cultivation of different crops through agroforestry favors important
environmental services, such as the conservation of natural resources. However, due to the scarcity of sites that disseminate the benefits of practice in the region, the community still opts
for conventional food production techniques. Thus, we suggest strengthening the dissemination
of agroecological practices through exchanges and exchange of knowledge between
community and university.
