Abstract

The paper reports the experience of the implantation of the agroecological vegetable garden
of the Federal Fluminense Institute - Cambuci campus, by technical staff and students of agroecology,
allowing them to associate theory with practice. This vegetable garden model had
as its showcase the social program “Integrated and Sustainable Agroecological Production
(PAIS)” and had the objective of assisting the teaching of students and regional producers,
as well as being a strategy to stimulate a sustainable production in the municipality, since it
communication and exchange of experience between the producers, the students and the technical
staff of the Institute, strengthening the educational recognition of the IFF towards the
society, and technifying the students for future assistance in their professional life. The project
is in progress, already achieving some objectives, such as the realization of practical classes
and mini courses with the participation of producers, besides the production of food free of
contamination by agrochemicals for the refectory
