Abstract

The aim of this work was to evaluate the soil fauna under different soil use systems: conventional
pineapple planting (Ananas comosus L. Merril), continuous pasture and secondary forest in
the municipality of Marabá, Pará. Fauna and physical sampling were carried out In four points
in each system. Organisms were extracted manually and identified at the level of large taxonomic
groups. The means of abundance were compared by Test t at the 5% probability level,
using the statistical program ASSISTAT version 7.7 beta. Diversity was calculated using the
Simpson diversity indexes (1-D), using the statistical program PAST version 3.06. The highest
diversity was found in the secondary forest area with the Simpson index of 0.8908, followed by
the area of pineapple cultivation (0.7283) and lower in the pasture (0.5763). The greatest abundance
was found in the pasture area and the main groups sampled were Isoptera, Formicidae
and Oligochaeta.
