Abstract

Aiming to identify the diseases that occurred in the crops of the Rio Seco Agroecology Center
and areas of family farmers in the Municipality of Amélia Rodrigues in Bahia, a survey was
carried out from September 2015 to February 2016. The diseases were evaluated by the symptoms
exposed in the collection of plant Material for laboratory analysis. The determination of
fungi and algae occurred by the direct method, practicing examinations of the materials under
the stereoscopic and optical microscope. In the impossibility of immediate fungal identification,
fragments of plant materials were grown in potato-dextrose-agar for isolation of phytopathogens
and subsequent identification by the characterization of their structures under the optical
microscope. As for the materials with symptoms of bacterial infection were submitted to the
exudation test. A range of diseases caused by fungi, bacteria and algae were observed, with
leaf spot being the most frequent symptoms.
