São Francisco Settlement: a sustainable production network

Guided from the perspective of popular extension university , this internship experience is referred
to in the perspective of the exchange of practices and knowledge between the scientific
and popular with commitment, respect and value of the knowledge, histories, struggles and
interests of the popular classes. With field of experiments located in the San Francisco settlement
in José de Freitas, Piauí. With the partnership and articulation between the Federal Rural
University of the Semiarid Region, the Environmental Network of Piauí - REAPI and the local
farmers allowed the implementation of a community garden maintained by the group of women
of the settlement and the recovery of four springs through techniques with management and
reforestation. In addition, it was possible to develop a series of agroecological activities that
enabled all those involved in the experience to know and recognize the role of women farmers
in the agroecological transition.
