The Amazon encompasses a great diversity of contexts and a wealth of knowledge, a large part
of which can be found at the Ver-o-Peso Market, the most important and traditional commercial
warehouse in the region. The objective of this study was to characterize and analyze the origin
of the products marketed by the Vero-o-Peso herb sellers and the knowledge associated
with them, in order to contribute to the visualization and valuation of these individuals and this
space. Our results showed that the products marketed by Ver-o-Peso herb sellers come both
from regions accessible by river and those accessible by road. Among the products, Andiroba
and Copaíba are prominent, having been indicated by the herb sellers as two of their main
marketed products. In addition, the herb sellers come from the urban zone, but their knowledge,
transmitted to them by their mothers, comes from a rural one. Thus, we conclude that the
market stands of the herb sellers at Ver-o-Peso embody a confluence of the various Amazons,
including the urban and the rural.
