Abstract

This ongoing research project focuses on the resettled Flor da Serra, in the municipality of
Porto Nacional - TO, which were compulsorily displaced to give way to the Luís Eduardo Magalhães
hydroelectric power plant on the Tocantins river. From the area of oral literature, the
objective is to register, describe, catalog and disseminate the symbolic-cultural repertoire of
residents from memory in relation to heritage, practices and knowledge of traditional cultures
acquired from their ancestors, before moving and after establish in the Flor da Serra resettlement.
Real-life observation, documentary analysis, questionnaire application and semi-structured
interview are the collection tools. The records made to date reveal knowledge, initiatives,
frustrations and desires linked to identity references built by riverine farmers, which contribute
to reveal heterogeneous brazilian culture.
