Abstract

Eucalyptus is the forestry component that is most cultivated in integrated crop livestock forestry systems, although it may cause harm to soybean establishment in the field due to allelopathic effects on seed germination. This research aimed to evaluate initial development of soybean seedlings under different amounts of Eucalyptus litter. The experimental design was the completely randomized with four replications. Treatments consisted of soybean sown at 0, 3, 6 and 9 days after deposition of 0, 1,5 e 3,0 t ha-1 of Eucalyptus litter. Seedling height, emergence, speed-index and speed were assessed. After 14 days, fresh and dry matter of shoots and cotyledons were evaluated. Data was submitted to variance analysis and means of litter amounts and sowing times were compared by the Tukey test (p≤0,05) and regression analysis, respectively. Soybean sowing time after Eucalyptus litter deposition affects seedling emergence and fresh matter depending on the amount of residues over surface. The amount of 3 t ha-1 of Eucalyptus litter reduces development of soybean seedlings.
