Abstract

Food production in agroforestry systems biodiverse (SAFs), anchored in agroecological principles, enables many ecosystem services that contribute to biodiversity conservation and income generation. Also, ensure food and nutritional security for farmers and consumers. In this context, this study aims to analyze the contribution of biodiverse agroforestry systems developed by small farmers in the promotion of nutrition and food safety, at income generation and conservation of biodiversity. The ondata collection carried out between the years 2015 to 2017, in thirty properties of family farms in three brazilian states (Mato Grosso do Sul, Parana and Sao Paulo), which have agroforestry systems deployed biodiverse. During visits to properties interviews were conducted with farmers, following a semi-structured, with questions related to the management of SAFs, productivity, marketing and income generation. It was found that the area intended for agroforestry systems, most of the properties are still very limited compared to the total area, however food production is varied, mainly fruit species. The increase in these areas would certainly increase even further productivity and/or diversity of food and, consequently, agrobiodiversity greater conservation of properties. In this sense, research institutions and technical assistance (governmental and nongovernmental) are fundamental to help farmers in the expansion of these systems.
