Abstract

The present report presents the experience of a "Field Day" promoted by the Agroecology sector of Embrapa Environment on August 16, 2018, aimed at university students and technicians. The objective of the event was to present the work developed in the experimental area called "Agroecological Site" and to promote a practical activity of several management in the agroforestry system (SAF). The event was programmed with a first moment of presentations on the researches developed in the site, followed by practical activities in SAF plots and finalized by a tour circuit through the area passing through six different agroforestry technologies. Field day has proved to be an important tool in the construction and socialization of agroecological knowledge, insofar as it strengthens the contact between university students, technicians and researchers. In spite of the intense programming, the moment promoted exchanges of experiences, observations and the practice of usual management in the agroforestry system, exemplifying how this type of event constitutes an excellent alternative in the process of student training and training of farmers interested in developing ecological systems of production. The evaluation of the event by the participants was very positive, which reinforced the potential of agro-ecological mutirões as spaces of exchange of knowledge within the research institution. This experience provided important learning for the improvement and pedagogical improvements in future events.
