Abstract

This case study reports a farmer from the Taquaral Settlement Project (PA), Corumbá-MS, who reads in the interview he gave, his trajectory of more than twenty years of settlement and his difficulties in producing with the conventional techniques. In this scenario, a student of the Undergraduate Program in Field-Science Enabling Education of the Nature launched the challenge of searching in the literature alternative techniques that could be adopted and implemented in the area to overcome the problem situation that the farmer and his family live. One of the main problems mentioned by the farmer is the lack of water in part of the year, since the rains have a marked period to be present, causing all the products to be produced in a single season, causing in the low prices of the products, which makes commercialization unfeasible. As an alternative, we reached the Agroforestry Systems (SAFs), which present, among other advantages, the balance of nature, allowing a continuous and abundant production throughout the year in different extracts. Therefore, the methodology was presented to the farmer who believes that its implementation is feasible, but now the demand that arises is another one: Who will do the work to teach SAF? Is there specialized technical assistance? Can it also be replicated on the site of other farmers suffering from similar problems?
