Abstract

In MS, more than 27 thousand families were settled, and had the opportunity to realize a dream of conquering their small piece of land. However, over 20 years, how are the economic and environmental situation of these families? Have they strengthened in the field or not? Has agroecology helped in the formation of sustainable agroecosystems to generate income from these families? Finally, based on these questions, this study had as objective to know the difficulties and the strengths of the producers through the report of the economic and environmental situation during the 20 years of existence of the settlement Caracol. Based on the reports, it was concluded that there are difficulties, such as lack of technical assistance, lack of knowledge to work in the field in the face of problems (lots with shallow and stony soils). It has also been found that the settlement and parts of the JPA are degraded. Therefore, incentives are necessary through public policies that support these settlers so that they have a quality of life and can generate income in their lots, but for this to happen, it is essential to train and transfer technology, or information must be accessible to the most remote settlements.
