Memories of farming production practices by elderly of UAMA / campus II/ UEPB

Abstract

The general objective of this research was to know and record the histories of these elderly
people from Universidade Aberta à Maturidade/Campus II/UEPB with respect to agricultural
practices. The methodology used was Oral History. Circles of conversation were held with all
the elderly, in order to promote intergenerational exchanges of knowledge and identify the key
people for the interviews. Interviews were conducted with five elderly people. Mr. Gil and D.
Fatima spoke about the history of their property, about their memories and the plans for the
property. Dona Maria, 92 years old, spoke about the memories of agriculture from the time of
her parents. Mr. Luiz and Dona Catarina reported that they continue with the agricultural practices
of the past. The present research has built a collection on the history of life, knowledge and
tastes of a people that went through many difficulties and also for many joys with agriculture.
