The objective of this work was to evaluate the situation and quality of the geographic information declared in the CAR of rural family properties located in a hydrographic basin tributary of Teles Pires River, in the municipality of Carlinda/MT. We analyzed geospatial data acquired at the base of SiCAR and cartographic materials provided by the ICV (Instituto Centro de Vida); GIS geoprocessing tools were used to analyze data from both databases and assess the quality of the information declared in the CAR. We verified the non-declaration of CAR by 17% of rural properties inserted in the watershed and a large number of inconsistencies associated with the overlapping of boundaries with neighboring properties, non-declaration of land uses and coverages, inaccuracy in the layout of the hydrographic network and absence of Permanent Preservation Areas declarations, in addition to invalid vector data and with failures of digitalisation. The geospatial data available on the basis of SiCAR have great potential for use in public policy-making and in rural land planning and management, especially in relation to forest restoration in small family farms, being of fundamental importance the quality of the declared data, as well as the efficiency and accuracy in the subsequent analysis of this information.
