Pedagogical Experiences for a Critical Environmental Education in a Municipal School of Campo Grande-MS

The Environmental Education shows itself as strategic to work and develop socio-environmental values, sensitizing and enabling society to promote changes in its reality. However, in order for Environmental Education to fulfill this role, it is necessary to move beyond mechanistic educational practices, materializing in effective practical activities, not only based on discursive and theoretical projects. In order to do so, the school garden appears as a strategy for the development of an Environmental Education that critically a theory and praxis, assisting in the teaching-learning process of teachers and students on the socio-environmental theme. In this sense, a project was developed at the Municipal School Elpídio Reis, located in Campo Grande / MS, whose main objective was to analyze how the experience in pedagogical practices developed in school vegetable spaces can contribute to the development of a Critical Environmental Education. The space of the school garden was used as a living laboratory to work on socioenvironmental themes such as healthy food, use of chemicals in agriculture, virtual water, agroecology, organic production, among others. He also contributed to the socialization of students and the importance of values such as respect, cooperation, solidarity, friendship, responsibility and dedication. In addition to being used to develop various contents of Geography, Science and other areas of knowledge and provide organic vegetables for school lunches. This project composes part of the master's research in development in the Post-Graduate Program in Science Teaching at the Federal University of Mato Grosso do Sul.
