Abstract

A major problem for society is the generation of solid waste. Depending on what is decided to do with them can be advantageous for the environment, and may even generate economic benefits. In the research being developed, we propose the use of pruning of trees, as well as being discarded in the urban environment to serve as a basis for the production of compost. Instead of having the landfill, empty land or dump as final destination, they will now return to public squares, gardens and gardens in schools and nurseries in the form of compost. In this pilot action we performed the composting of a hose tree (Mangifera indica) that was discarded producing a pile with the following dimensions: 2.5 m x 3.5 m x 0.8 m totaling 7.0 m3 of ground mass. The cut was performed on the 10th stack mounted on October 14, 2018 the expected result and an organic fertilizer that should be ready for use between 90 to 120 days.
