Abstract

The present experience report was originated from the second edition of the Conference on Food and Nutrition Education, promoted by the National Fund for the Development of Education (FNDE), held at the Municipal School Professor Fauze Scaff Gattass Filho, Campo Grande - MS. The aim of the Journey is to encourage the debate and practice of food and nutritional education actions in the school environment and give visibility to those already developed in public schools, with the guiding theme being the promotion of healthy eating and the prevention of chronic non-communicable diseases. Considering that PANC are highly nutritious and easily accessible and cultivated foods, besides the uniqueness that it gives to the palate, we seek to introduce the term, as well as the PANC, in the school environment, through culinary workshops for teachers, nutritionists, school employees, family farmers, and other stakeholders. With the students, the theme was developed through an expositive lecture of these plants in the school garden, with later tasting in the meal. The results achieved were the inclusion of Taioba (Xanthosoma sagittifolium) in the Call for Public Call for supply to municipal schools, guaranteeing the frequent consumption of PANC through school feeding for approximately 1100 students.
