Abstract

Endlicheria paniculata (Spreg) JF Macbr, Byrsonima intermedia A. Juss and Ilex paraguariensis St. Hil. have natural distribution in Seasonal Semideciduous Forest and difficulty sexual propagation. The objective of this research was to evaluate the viability of producing seedlings of these species by the air layering method. Air layering were prepared in healthy branches, treated or not with rooting gel (Sela Gel® -1000ppm AIB) in two seasons of the year. It was observed development of adventitious roots for B. intermedia and E. paniculata in all treatments. In I. paraguariensis no rooting during the experiment, but the callus formation. It was concluded that the vegetative propagation of B. intermedia and E. paniculata by air layering method is viable and recommended, and use of rooting gel enhances the percentage of air layers rooted in E. paniculata.
