Abstract

The achievement of the FINEP Innovation Award in 2010, 1st place in the Central West region, Social Technology category was the result of a long walk. Lack of community credibility, unmotivated teachers, and students from extremely poor and unstructured families were part of the reality that the Fauze Scaff Gattass Filho Municipal School faced. From the award, the school community came to believe that with commitment, dedication and responsibility allied to the desire to make the school a source of hope for our children, they are fuels to break with paradigms allowing the emergence of innovation in the school environment. With the financial resources acquired, the school implemented the Horta Escola structure and is considered the living laboratory of the school. The nursery of seedlings was also built for donation to the local community, schools, associations, among other organizations, with an approximate production of 80,000 seedlings per year. The result of this work in the school community has been great. Today, we have a school with motivated teachers and students. Community support and participation have also increased and this can be seen in the events and activities promoted by the school, including those that require parental involvement.
