Abstract

The objective of this report is to describe the experience with agroecological gardens carried out in May of 2016 at APA Baía Negra, in the municipality of Ladário, located in the western portion of the state of Mato Grosso do Sul. Methodologically, a field day was used. Main practical activities consisted of cleaning and use of biomass and subsequent planting of seedlings and seedlings. This action was articulated with others in nearby communities, being fundamental to make exchanges of genetic material, increasing the diversity of natural seeds scattered in the municipalities of Ladário and Corumbá. It also serves to increase the income of each family involved, in cases of surplus production. Based on the productive potential of the project's families, the technicians incorporated organic matter into the soil and then planted several cultivars and established a timetable for planting and harvesting. The technical team provided support and gave lectures to enable those involved. In the first results obtained, from a technical point of view, the losses were higher than expected. On the other hand, the view of the residents was very positive, so that the project could reorient the practices to obtain better results in the subsequent periods, in the second cycle we observed an increase in the quantity of cultivars produced as well as the multiplication of some of them.
