Power conflicts in urban gardens: the case of Horta das Flores

Abstract

This work aims to explore – looking to conflicts between an urban community garden, the
“Horta das Flores”, and the local public government - how the agroecological urban agriculture
generates discussions that reaffirm meanings such as public and private, rural or urban, that
bring back to discussion established notions such as the role of public power and the possibilities
of action of the inhabitants of the city.
