Abstract

Embrapa Pantanal Silage Press is a low-cost, easy-to-implement technology for family-owned dairy farms, allowing small amounts of silage to be produced at a time without requiring large infrastructure and facilitating storage and transportation of the material. A methodology was developed for silage production using high protein forages (BRS Kurumi elephantgrass, cassava shoots and moringa branches), as well as an additive to improve the fermentation process, aiming to feed dairy herds during periods of drought. The preliminary results indicate that the silages produced have good characteristics, being an alternative for the family dairy farmers.
