Abstract

This experience is a result of the activities developed in the Agroecology Research center
(NEA) of the Instituto Federal de Sergipe (IFS) with the goal of developing activities that corroborate
with the healthful food production of the urban, periurban and rural areas, through
the Educational Participation. 02 workshops were performed with the focus on the elaboration
of a vertical vegetable garden. The first one was conducted during the IV Semana do Curso
de Agropecuária do IFS-São Cristóvão, where the target audience was the students of the
Agricultural Course and some family farmers. The second workshop was done in the Neópolis
Municipality of Sergipe State, during the II Encontro de Alimentos e Desenvolvimento Sustentável.
For the preparation of the vertical vegetable garden, recyclable materials and organic
compound were utilized. These activities have possibly promoted the sustainable use of the
natural resources and the development of the agroecology practices.
