Practices and perceptions of farmers on the use of agrotoxics in the Transamazônica microregion, Pará

Abstract

The objective is to describe some practices related to the use of agrotoxic by farmers, and to
show the perceptions that they have about them. The study was conducted in the municipality
of Altamira, in the state of Pará, more precisely in the locality of the Assurini Settlement Project
(Community Gorgulho da Rita and Dispensa I) where 12 family farmers were interviewed. As
results obtained, it was evident that the consumption of agrotoxic in the region is increasing,
mainly the use of herbicides based on glyphosate, and insecticides, and that farmers have little
