Abstract

In order to set up an area with the successional agroforestry system at the University of Brasília, several species were planned and planted to monitor the agroeconomic performance of the crops and system. The pumpkin, okra, yam, cassava and pineapple crops were intercropped with different crops in a successional agroforestry system with more than 20 species of different cycles. Okra and yan did not survive. The culture of pumpkin had good production in all the evaluated arrangements. The pineapple, although presenting small fruits, presented medium production with very tasty fruits. Cassava produced well, but suffered from pineapple, with lower yield in this arrangement. The system presented positive economic results in the plots with greater presence of vegetables. Therefore, in this initial phase it was verified that the vegetables are very important to guarantee the economic viability of initiatives of this nature.
