Use of the management tool called benchmarking - Identification of best practices for implementation and management of home garden

Abstract

The dissemination of sustainable practices covers factors such as food security, cost minimization
and direct and indirect reduction of environmental impacts. Therefore, the implementation
of domestic vegetable gardens is feasible in small rural or urban places. In this regard, we have
identified which handling or management practices are used by farmers/commercial gardens
owners in the town of Iporá-GO by conducting an exploratory and descriptive research whose
results indicate the best practices used, given the need to reach efficiency and effectiveness
in the exercise of any economic activity. The study demonstrates that agroecological practices
are adopted as criterion to reduce production costs and maintain the quality of the products.
