Family Agriculture in Union Domain Areas in the Southwest of Goiás
Keywords:
Family production, Food safety, Marginal occupationAbstract
The small family production over the years was pushed to the fringes of the latifundia, being
left to the margin of the agricultural production process. In the southwestern region of Goiás,
the territorialization of large-scale production resulted in the exclusion of a significant portion
of the rural population. The objective of this work is to understand the occupation of family farmers
in the domain area of the Union, on the banks of BR-364 in the municipalities of Jataí and
Mineiros. A qualitative approach was used with bibliographic research, and data collection of
primary data through direct observation and interviews and secondary data collection, in several
institutional platforms. These farmers occupying these marginal areas were expelled from
the countryside and had to develop strategies for their reproduction, such as the occupation of
marginal lands along the roadsides.
