Abstract

This work aimed to evaluate if the type of organic substrate in which the chicory seedlings were produced promotes differences in the agronomic performance of the crop. For this, chicory seedlings were produced in trays of 200 cells containing the three organic substrates: Millicompost (S1); SIPA (S2) and Biomix® (S3). The physical-chemical and chemical analyzes of all the substrates were carried out. The design was a completely randomized block design with five replications. The most nutrient rich substrates were SIPA (S2) and Millicompost (S1). Significant differences (p≤0.05) were observed for all evaluated parameters, except for plant height, which was similar among all treatments. The fresh commercial masses of the chicory from the substrates S1 and S2 were superior to the substrate Biomix® (S3), reflecting in higher productivity. The substrate Millicompost (S1) provides the formation of chicory seedlings of superior quality, with direct reflection on crop productivity.
