Use of domestic compost recipient to fortification of agroecology and urban agriculture

The work starts from the critical observation of the impacts of the capitalist society in the big
cities in relation to the production of garbage, his treatment and destination. According to the
Diagnosis of Urban Solid Waste (IPEA, 2012), 51.4% of the garbage produced in Brazil, between
2000 and 2008, was organic matter. In this sense, the work proposes to evaluate, through
previous studies and experiments by the Laboratory of Agrometeorology (LAGRO) – UFRJ
and the monitoring of its application in our residence, the reduction of organic waste, promoted
by the use of domestic compost recipient, as well as the reduction of the contamination of the
nonorganic garbage, which facilitates the recycling process, return of organic matter to the soil
and organic cultivation of food. The compost recipient promotes the natural aerobic decomposition
through microorganisms, becoming an alternative solution of social and sustainable
low-cost technology for the aforementioned problem. In addition, it is shown as a practice that
does not harm the environment and acts on economic, social and environmental sustainability,
under the values of agroecology, permaculture and urban agriculture.
