The objective of this work was to investigate the dynamics of the population fluctuation of winged
aphids in six urban gardens with three different agroecological systems of production in
Altamira-Pará, and to correlate with climatic factors of the region. The collection occurred in
two distinct periods corresponding to the dry and rainy season. Yellow traps were used with
water to capture the aphids. The collections were taken at intervals of three days, the insects
captured were placed in glass bottle with water and taken to the laboratory of Entomology of
the Faculty of Forestry Engineering of UFPA to be identified and placed in glass containing
70% alcohol and previously labeled. The traps were effective in capturing a total 1,484 aphids,
showing a larger population fluctuation in the dry period (65%) in relation to the rainy season
(35%). With the number of insects and climatological data, the analysis of variance was performed
and the Tukey test was applied at 5% probability, it was verified that the temperature was
the climatic factor determining in the population fluctuations of aphids.
