Abstract

This work aimed to measure the effects of agroecological practices and basic technologies introduced over a year in two family farms, producing vegetables in the process of agroecological transition in the Federal District, Brazil, through the use of sustainability indicators. The methodology used was participatory with the application of indicators of soil quality, crop health and environment, applied in two subsequent years (2015 and 2016). In both properties, the indicators of crop and environment sanity were the ones that presented the best indexes in the second evaluation, and the soil quality indicators had a significant variation among the evaluations. The indicators were able to measure the introduction of green manure and diversity practices in an easy, fast and satisfactory way, showing the need for the continuous use of green manure to improve the physical and chemical qualities of the soil.
