Keywords:

The present article seeks to report the main challenges that permeated a case study on socioenvironmental
risks associated with the use of agrochemicals in the tomaticultura of table
by family farmers of a producing municipality of Zona da Mata Mineira. The research sought
to systematize information and subsidies for educational actions of rural extension public
services. In order to carry out the fieldwork, it was necessary to create a set of strategies to
approach the farmers who would participate in the research. In the semi-structured interviews
the Snowball methodology was used, in which one interviewee indicated another one with
ideal characteristics for the research. The subject of pesticides was difficult to address in the
locality where a great challenge on this issue could be perceived. Technical assistance based
on agroecology may be considered as an alternative to the situation found in the municipality
and region.
