Abstract

The substrate acts directly on the development of the seedling produced, with reflections on the plant in the field. The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of different substrates on the emergence of clove lemon seedlings. The treatments were composed of substrates Pure earth; Earth + humus; Terra + Bioplant®; Earth + organic compost; Earth + coffee straw, in the proportion of 3: 1. The lemons were harvested at the IFES Santa Teresa campus, and with the aid of a bamboo saw not to injure the seeds, were cut in half, squeezed in a sieve, washed in running water and dipped in a solution of water and lime (50g.L-1) for 1 minute, then washed in tap water to remove lime residues. The sowing occurred in 280 mL tubes and the percentage of emergency, the rate of emergency and the mean time of emergency were evaluated. The Terra + Bioplant® treatment presented the best results for emergence, IVE and TME, which may be recommended for this species.
