Abstract

Agroecosystems of reference based on the principles of agroecology, or on agroecological
transition, located in different environmental and socioeconomic contexts of the semi-arid region
of Minas Gerais are being monitored for resilience to local adversities and climate changes.
After the initial characterization of the agroecosystems, environmental stratification was
carried out in the areas, defining the sampling units. Soil samples were collected in each
sampling unit in which the quantification of the total organic carbon were carried out. The data
obtained have revealed the efficiency of agroecological systems in carbon accumulation in the
soil and their superiority over conventional / monocultural eucalyptus system.
