Abstract

This study presents an economic - ecological survey of the family of the family farmer Marizete Carolina da Silva, in the municipality of Juazeiro - BA, in the Sertão do São Francisco. The study was carried out in a participatory manner from April to May of 2019 by the team of the Pró-Semarido and AS-PTA, following the operational procedures of the Method of Ecological Economic Analysis of Agroecosystems - LUME. It was possible to understand the technical and economic dynamics of the family and the strategies used to manage the agroecosystem, and it was observed that the family agriculture in this case presents economic viability for the context of the semiarid. However, the challenge still remains of reducing dependence on external inputs without compromising production.
