Abstract

Faced with the problem of the depletion of natural resources, new forms of interaction with nature
are carried out so that anthropic activities are more responsible in saving and energizing
their raw materials. Water is the most worrisome element, since living organisms cannot survive
without this element. To reduce the speed at which water resources are depleted, farmers
demand innovative systems that increase commercial production in a sustainable way through
technologies that reduce water consumption and, if possible, promote recycling. Aquaponics
is a system that has gained a lot of credibility by synergistically integrating aquaculture and hydroponic
production and promoting water reuse and nutrient cycling. In order to contextualize
aquaponics as an agroecological system, this work brings a theoretical rescue on the aquaponics
aiming at a greater insertion of this technique in the large area of agroecology.
