Relato de experiência referente a sustentabilidade socioambiental do Projeto de Assentamento Nova Canaã

Abstract

The present work had the objective of reporting the experience about the socioenvironmental sustainability of the New Canaã Settlement Project, located in the municipality of Pindobaçu, Bahia. The present research is the result of a survey carried out between july 5 and 10, 2012, by the technicians of the INCRA / SEAGRI / EBDA Agreement, of the Operational Nucleus of Senhor do Bonfim. All data were collected by the Bahia Agricultural Development Company (EBDA), through the application of questionnaires to diagnose the family production unit, equivalent to the agricultural period from july 2011 to June 2012. Of the 81 families benefited by the Community, 74 completed questionnaires. Based on the results presented, it was concluded that the New Canaan Settlement Project presents sustainable socio-environmental characteristics, but it urgently needs governmental investments mainly in terms of capacity building of the settlers and continuous technical assistance services.
