Abstract

In this paper, I propose the use of sustainable social technologies of use and reuse of water, as
effective solutions of socio-environmental transformation in communities where the access of
potable water is restricted or limited. The Ocuperiodoce project had as main actions the implementation
and diffusion of two systems - Iron-cement tank with water catchment and treatment
of domestic sewage with evapotranspiration basin – in a riverside community affected by the
rupture of the Samarco tailings dam, in Mariana – MG/Brazil. The implantation of this concepts
of technologies contributes to the social and economy recovery of needy community, of the
water resources, of the soil and of the ecological system affected by the disaster, dialoguing at
the same time with agroforestry systems- AFS’s.
