Abstract

According to the Brazilian Forest Code, Permanent Preservation Areas (PPAs) are legally protected areas and this protection is guaranteed by Conama 429/2011 that allows to recover as APPs with agroforestry systems (SAFs), provided that as premises of stability and resilience of the area are guaranteed. This work is designed to show the agroforestry system and management on the banks of the Violeira Stream, Municipality of Viçosa, Minas Gerais, as a viable alternative to improve soil fertility and to allow the ecosystemic effects, from the results of the chemical analysis of routine and organic matter of the soil in the area, in 2016 and 2019, with criteria of response to the system response. The management of SAFs aims to conserve as APPs with species of productive and commercial potential. Based on the observed results, the system allows to generate agroecological and water production, to guarantee a better performance and to improve the quality of the soil.
