Abstract

The present experience was carried out in the Upper Valley of Río Negro (Argentina), based on
the demands of fruit farmers interested in replenishing organic matter to the soil, agro-industries
generating organic waste and inhabitants affected by the accumulation of aquatic plants
in a lake near the Valley. The objective was to consolidate a network with the participation of
different actors of the territory for the integral management of organic residues. After a four-
-year of collaborative work, a demonstrative experimental space and training was created. In
addition, composting experiments were carried out in different farms and organic materials of
different origin were characterized: Residue of chicken broiler slaughterhouse, aquatic plants
and residues from the juice of pears and apples industry. The networks allow to overcome the
difficulties in family and industrial scale for use of the organic matter. They expand the vision at
the territorial level and improve the socio-ecosystem resilience of the valley.
