Diagnosis and management participatory plan for the microbasin of the Laranjeira I settlement, Pantanal Mato-grossense

Abstract

The article presents a description of the experience of a collective made up of teachers and
students of the State University of Mato Grosso and of teachers, students and residents of the
Laranjeira I settlement. Since the beginning of the project, in 2012, meetings and workshops
have been held to encourage the settlers to discuss their problems and identify their possible
solutions. The finalization of participatory planning in 2016 was carried out with a diagnosis
and management plan of the microbasin that identified the main problems, their causes and
the consequences for the community. With the participation of the community, it was possible
to survey the critical points and present possible solutions to these problems in order to reestablish
a framework for the use of resources that guarantees greater sustainability for families,
such as the restoration of permanent preservation areas and the adoption of agroforestry systems
that are more sustainable economically and environmentally.
