Agricultura familiar de montaña, un análisis de la sustentabilidad de prácticas agroecológicas en la comuna de Curarrehue, región de la Araucanía, Chile

The family farming (FF) sustainability has taken interest in the context of environmental global
change. In this context the mountain farming systems are one of the less studied, despite that
allow land management keeping traditional practices. The research analyze through the MESMIS
methodology, the sustainability degree of FF plots with agroecological and conventional
practices in Curarrehue, Araucanía Andina Chilena. The lands with agroecological emphasis
show a higher sustainability degree, explained by a better performance in indicators such as
diversification in the productive line, participation in social organizations and fertilizer use.
