Abstract

In the state of Acre are found a wide variety of Capsicum pepper, being the region from Vale do Juruá an important center of diversity of the domesticated species of the genus. The objective of this study is to evaluate the diversity of Capsicum pepper in the community Pé da Serra, in the Serra do Divisor National Park, Acre, Brazil. The study was conducted during an expedition to the PNSD in May 2019. The research has observational exploratory character, having as main focus the identification of the species and characterization of the fruits. Two species were recorded: C. frutescens with a variety denominate "Malaguetinha"; and C. chinense with five varieties, "Pipper de cheiro redonda", "Pipper de cheiro roxa", "Olho de peixe", "Peito de moça" and "Pimenta rosa". The study of the diversity of pepper in the PNSD is of great importance, since the geographic isolation and the local cultural practices are essential for the conservation of the genetic variability in situ.
