Agroecology and degrowth: a necessary dialogue

Abstract

Degrowth is a global movement originated on the verification of the unsustainability of a economic
model based on growth. De degrowth debate agglutinates critics, ideas and purposes
about many nowadays questions: social justice, environmental sustainability, work, life quality,
and others. Many of those questions are addressed also by agroecology, which movement is
recognized as of fundamental importance by degrowers. On the other hand, there are still very
few mentions to degrowth inside agroecological movement, especially in Latin America. This
article present convergences between these two movements, aiming potentiate synergies in
the construction of a more just and sustainable society.
