Abstract

With the arrival of summer, one of the main problems faced by olive growers in the region of Araraquara-SP is the infestation of snails, resulting in considerable losses in production and consequently in the income of family farmers. Therefore, the objective of the experiment was to integrate animal and plant production through the use of laying hens, aiming at the reduction and control of snail infestation in the agro-ecologically based olericulture production. Through a workshop for the construction of the mobile henhouse, held collectively with farmers linked to the Organization of Social Control - OCS organic Bela Vista was possible to deepen the discussions of the benefits of using this technology in the system. After its preparation and subsequent use, it was concluded that the layers conducted on the beds promote their fertilization and decompaction, in addition to controlling the snails, which are excellent sources of protein for the animals.
