Abstract

Coriandrum sativum L. is a widely consumed vegetable in the Brazilian Northeast. However, when in the rainy season the cultivation of the coriander is difficult by the high incidence of the burning of the leaves. Burning is a disease caused by two fungi (Alternaria sp. and Cercospora sp.). That is favored by the conditions of high humidity. The objective of this work was to evaluate the production of coriander using two densities (2 and 3 g/m) of planting and the effect of garlic extract, silicon dioxide and glass water in the control of the disease. Alternative products were applied after 30 days of sowing and three times every seven days. After 60 days the plants were evaluated. The planting densities and alternative products applied in the plants did not influence the dry mass and the severity of the burning of the leaves under the conditions tested.
