Abstract

The debate on agroecology and the production and consumption of healthy food have grown in
recent years, but this discussion is in the anti-hegemonic field in the current agri-food system.
This paper analyzes the obstacles to the production of pineapples in organic systems in Allada,
Benin / Africa. Interviews were conducted with farmers who grow organic pineapple to meet
the challenges experienced by farmers. The results demonstrate that access to land one of the
challenges since it is the subject of dispute, there is difficulty in producing compost, the price
of organic pineapple is the same as conventional. And over the long term, this production system
conserves the soil and goods of nature, but it is necessary to work with farmers to reduce
out-of-farm inputs and improve market access.
