Technical assistance and rural extension under the perspective of law no. 12188/2010 in family farming in the municipality of Barreiros - PE.

Abstract

• The sugarcane region of the Southern Forest of Pernambuco is characterized by numerous settlements of agrarian reform, where the practice of an effective and continuous rural extension is fundamental. The objective of this study was to investigate the implementation of Law 12,188 / 2010 in the improvement of technical assistance and rural extension services in the Municipality of Barreiros - PE. The actors of this study were the Agronomic Institute of Pernambuco - IPA; Secretary of Agriculture; Syndicate; Municipal Council and the ECOOTERRA Cooperative. Semi-structured interviews and indicators with scores ranging from 0 to 6 were carried out, with PNATER's principles as reference. All the interviews revealed a distorted perception of what is expected of ATER's actions, above all, in the aspects of participative, methodological, educational and continuous planning. The IPA and the Municipal Department of Agriculture presented the best grades, however, all the actors showed weakness in their actions in the municipality.
